2013 - 2014 Events

  • Wednesday, June 4th - Second generation Holocaust survivor, Marushka Glissen, speaks with Division 1's Heroes and Villians class. 
  • Friday, May 30th - Spanish classes go to exhibits at the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. 
  • Wednesday, May 28th and Thursday, May 29th - Meridian's theatre troupe presents Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
  • Friday, May 23rd - Division 4's Calculus and Physics class spends the day applying their physics learning at Canobie Lake Amusement Park.
  • Wednesday, May 14th - Divisions 3 & 4 spend a day rambling on the Harbor Islands creating art from nature. 
  • Wednesday, May 7th - Music NIght filled with performances by our music classes and band. 
  • Thursday, May 1st - Senior-faculty Dinner. 
  • Monday, April 28th - Friday, May 2nd - Spirit week and field day! Silly attire and enthusiasm required!
  • Thursday, April 10th -  Spanish 2 visits Alianza Hispana for community service.
  • Thursday, April 3rd - Saturday, April 5th - Our French class and language teachers travel to Quebec, Canada for food, culture, and language.
  • Thursday, March 27th - Saturday, March 29th - Middle school Model UN travels to New York for the world's largest Model United Nations simulation. Our high school delegation goes to the Boston College Model UN simulation, EagleMUNC. 
  • Monday, March 24th - Portfolio Day - Students share their learning with parents and advisors. 
  • March 12th - Exhibition evening - Students share their music, history researches, artisitic interpretations, scientific investigations, and more.

  • Wednesday and Thursday, January 29th and 30th - Our theatre troupe presents an immersive interpretation of Shakespeare's Midsummer NIght's Dream.

  • Tuesday, January 28th - Division 1 Engineering students have a family dinner and attend MIT's autonomous robot competition.
  • Thursday, January 16th and Friday, January 17th - Winterim: two-day intensive courses on film-making (working with filmmaker Gabriel Munitz-Alessio), computer-aided design and 3D printing, Chinese cooking, creative writing, fiber arts, book-making, and more.
  • Friday, December 20th - The 9th annual Pajama/Bathrobe/Slippers Day/Fuzzy Stuffed Animal Day.
  • Wednesday, December 11th - Exhibition evening. Students share their experiments, music, historical research, creative writing, math investigations, and more.

  • Friday, November 29th - Meridian families participate in F.A.T. (the Friday after Thanksgiving) festivities at M.I.T. building sculptures and Rube Goldberg chain reactions.
  • Thursday, November 21st - Meridian co-hosts An Evening with Catherine Steiner-Adair, the author of The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age.
  • Wednesday, November 13th - College Financial Aid Night for Division 4.
  • Tuesday, November 12th - Division 2 visits the Revere House and the Old South Meeting House.
  • Friday, November 1st - Division 4 heads to the Peabody Essex Museum to explore Asian art and history.
  • Thursday, October 31st - Division 1 tours the Greek collections at the Museum of Fine Arts for Greek studies (in full Halloween attire!).
  • Monday, October 28th - Divisions 3 and 4 travel to Land Sake's Farm in Weston to continue their study of agriculture and health.
  • Friday, October 18th - Jovana Garcia Soto, director of grant-writing and advocacy at Grassroots International, visits our Advanced Spanish class.
  • Thursday, October 10th - College Night for juniors and their parents.
  • Friday, October 4th - Representative from Bennington College visits with Division 4; Division 3 goes to the Copley Library for their history research.
  • Thursday, October 3rd - Spanish 2 visits Alianza Hispana to interview the seniors and to sing Spanish songs and dance.
  • Tuesday, October 1st - Advanced Spanish/Experiences in Caribbean Culture travels to Via Victoria for the art exhibit Percussions/Repercussions.
  • Friday, September 20th - Division 3 American Historiography classes take a Freedom Trail tour to study what events are highlighted and how and which stories are left out.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10th - Wednesday, Sept. 11th - All-school ropes course and team-building overnight at Camp Becket in the Berkshires. Orienteering, geodesic dome building, swimming, gaga, s'mores with very large marshmallows, and more.
  • Wednesday, September 4th - Our Ninth Annual Bagel Breakfast Beginning welcomes new and returning families.

2012 - 2013 Events

  • Wednesday, June 5th & Thursday, June 6th - Our theatre troupe presents the world premiere of Artemis in the Parking Lot, an original musical written by Misha Chowdhury and Laura Grill.
  • Thursday, April 11 - Sunday, April 14 - Middle school Model United Nations trip to New York City to participate in the world's largest middle school UN simulation at the United Nations. Our delegation represents the Kingdom of Morocco. Side trips to a show, an NBC studio tour, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
  • Saturday, April 6 - Monday, April 15 - All sophomores and juniors head to Costa Rica for community service, home stays, and science (including turtle rescues)!
  • Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th - Divisions 3 and 4 present an original student adaptation intertwining William Shakespeare's Hamlet and Midsummer Night's Dream as part of their Humanities studies
  • Thursday, March 28th - Portfolio Day. Students lead their advisor and parents in a discussion of their academic accomplishments.
  • Wednesday, March 20th - Winter Exhibition Evening. 
  • Thursday, February 14th - Outdoor club trip to Weston cross-country ski tracks.
  • Wednesday, February 13th - Poetry Out Loud all-school poetry recitations. 
  • Thursday, January 31st - Meridian's benefit concert in support of the 2013 service learning trip to Costa Rica. The amazing Laura Grill Band leads our cabaret-style event.
  • Friday, January 25th - Parent-teacher potluck.
  • Tuesday, January 22nd - Division 1 carries out gel electrophoresis experiments at Biogen Idec.
  • Thursday, January 17th and Friday, January 18th - Winterim: two-day intensive courses on playwriting, cooking, computer-aided manufacturing, and outdoor education.
  • Wednesday, December 19th - 8th annual Pajama/Bathrobe/Slippers Day.
  • Tuesday, December 18th - Meridian students begin our monthly reading buddy partnership with the Trust Center for Early Education pre-schoolers. It is incredibly cute. 
  • Thursday, December 13th - All-school party.
  • Wednesday, December 5th - Exhibition evening. Economics projects, sustainability studies, French alphabet art books, and more!
  • Tuesday, November 20th - Divisions 2 through 4 talk with Jeff Orlowski, the director and producer of Chasing Ice, exploring questions about climate change as well as his process making the film.
  • Monday, November 19th - All-school trip to see the new documentary Chasing Ice.
  • Friday, November 30th - Division 3 explores laboratory, genetics, and sickle cell anemia at Biogen Idec.
  • Thursday, November 29th - As part of a collaboration between Meridian's theatre program and the Wayland High School Theater Ensemble, Meridian's troupe goes to Wayland to perform On The Razzle.
  • Wednesday, November 28th - College Night for juniors and their parents.
  • Wednesday, November 28th - As part of our collaboration, Wayland students come to Meridian to perform Voices from the Fire, an original ensemble-written production that tells the story of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.
  • Saturday, November 17th - Division 1 represents Nigeria and Venezuela at the Northeastern University Middle School Model United Nations.
  • Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th - Meridian's drama troupe presents On The Razzle.
  • Thursday, November 1st - Composer and musician Daniel Rodman visits our music classes and demonstrates the didgeridoo as part of a class on techniques for playing wind instruments. 
  • Monday, October 22nd - Martha Carlson from the University of New Hampshire Forest Watch program visits Division 1 to further our tree research.
  • Friday, October 12th - Educator and blogger Grant Lichtman visits Meridian and meets with students. Read the results here.

  • Tuesday, September 18th - Handbook Jeopardy! Teams show off their knowledge of school culture. 
  • Friday, September 14th - Partha Chowdhury, Professor of Physics at UMass-Lowell, leads Division 3 and 4 students in a conversation about the Scientific Revolution and the role of both empirical and intuitive thinking in science.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 11th - Wednesday, Sept. 12th - All-school ropes course and team-building overnight at Camp Becket in the Berkshires. Zip lines, alpine tower, canoeing, campfires, s'mores, and more.

  • Tuesday, May 22nd - Divisions 2 and 3 visit the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle laboratory at M.I.T. to learn about invasive species monitoring and engineering as part of their own Sea Perch research studies.
